13-03-23 Laurie has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very nervous girl who is overwhelmed to find herself here and will run away and hide from you. Once she is in your arms she does relax a little and is easy to handle, but very worried about us. Laurie will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with someone who has experience with scared ex-breeding dogs. She will need at least one other kind and confident dog in her new home to be her friend and to help her to settle in to her new life. She has never lived in a home before so will need kindness and understanding as she settles in to home life and learns all about new skills like house training. She has never walked on a lead before and so will need to first practice wearing a harness and lead around the house and garden until she was confident enough to go for walks outside. Laurie has sore ears which we are treating and may need to be kept an eye on by her adopters new vet which would not be coverable by insurance. She is a little stiff around her hips, gentle exercise may help with this especially as she builds up muscle but this is something that she may require treatment for in the future. Laurie has a passport.
10-04-23 UPDATE
Laurie is still a bit nervous with us, but has learnt to walk on a lead and is doing well, as long as she's walking with a friend. She will let us go upto her and put her lead on, but is really not sure when you give her attention. She takes her confidence from her kennel friends, so we are still looking for a home with a confident resident dog. She is quite a cheerful lass, who is lively and playful in the sand school. She cannot be homed with cats. She's been kennelled with similar size dogs, if you have a smaller dog, we can try her with smallies.
21-04-23 UPDATE
Laurie is still nervous but she is slowly coming along, she will need a resident dog to show her the ropes. She is so much calmer and relaxed when playing with her friends. She is nervous but as you approach she tends to lay down on her back and let you stroke her. Once she gets used to you she feels like she could really grow attached and enjoy your company! She is so nice and just needs a warm lovely home that she can settle in. She waited a long time so hopefully you are her fresh start.
24-04-23 UPDATE
Laurie is such a lovely girl who’s been with us just over a month now. She’s still anxious with new people and can be afraid but once she knows you calms down. She does walk well on a harness but does need reassurance with loud passing cars etc, but she never pulls and sticks by your side. Laurie gets along really well with other dogs and needs a resident dog to gain some confidence from. She can go to a home with older children who respect her and her space and are willing to give her the extra time she needs to completely come out of her shell. Laurie is an amazing girl who just needs the right home with people who can give her the time, attention and love she deserves.
23-05-23 UPDATE
Laurie is such a sweet lady but is so nervous, she tries SO hard to be brave around us humans but sometimes does get a little overwhelmed. Day by day her confidence improves in small steps and it’s beautiful to witness. She walks on a lead very well for how nervous she is and will cower down for you to put a lead on her which at the moment is the way she is most comfortable doing it. Once she is out in a yard/sand-school, her personality comes to life and just enjoys it so much. Laurie will need a resident dog in her new home as she gets very stressed being on her own and is also most comfortable walking on a lead when alongside a kennel friend. This sweetheart will also need a home with experience with more nervous dogs as she could potentially be flighty.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
