06-04-2023 Gemma is a lovely but very scared girl has come to us from a breeder.  She is a little shut down but despite her fear Gemma is easy to handle.  We can see that Gemma has not has much love and affection in her life and she has patchy fur but in time with adopters who understand her worries she will start to realise how good it feels to be loved.  In a calm and quiet adult only home with at least one kind resident dog to be her friend and help her to settle into her new life she will begin to shine.  Gemma has never lived in a home before and so this will be quite scary at first as she learns about home life and new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. These are things which may take her a while to pick up as the garden may be a scary as the house at first so her adopters need to have plenty of patience and love to help her learn and be sure she is comfortable walking on a harness and lead in the garden before taking her for a walk in the outside world. Gemma has a grade 2 heart murmur that does not currently require any medication but adopters will need to monitor this in the future.  Gemma has a passport.

25-05-23 UPDATE
Gemma is such a happy little sweetheart. She has been in foster with me for around 3 weeks now, and I am honestly blown away by the fantastic progress she has made in such a short time with me. Gemma arrived here having never lived in a home before, she was very nervous of being with new people and her new surroundings. In the short time she has been with us she has really come out of her shell and is now quite the attention seeker. Gemma has been going for walks now for a couple of weeks, she started being double leaded until her confidence grew, and it really didn't take long for her to move onto just a long lead on her harness. She absolutely loves being out on walks now, and loves to sniff about in the woods.
Unfortunately Gemma does have a few health conditions, she has hormonal alopecia so she does have patchy fur, but this doesn't affect her in any way although her new owners will have to be careful of her being in the sun, she also will require some dental treatment, and she has a grade 2 heart murmur, but this doesn't currently need medication but will need to be monitored. Unfortunately these are pre existing conditions so won't be covered by insurance.

Gemma will need a resident dog in her new home, who is happy to let her snuggle upto them and shadow them as she continues to learn about homelife, and going out on more adventures. Gemma currently lives with 2 cats, and has been amazing with them so she can definitely be homed with cats.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
