24-10-2023 Sherlock has sadly come back from adoption as an only dog as he was suffering from separation anxiety. He is a very boisterous large Beagle. He is here in foster with a variety of dogs. He loves to play with our 2yr old beagle and our great dane cross and for this reason I think he would be better homed with a dog of the same size or larger. He needs a home with no young children as he is very boisterous. He needs a confident and preferably playful resident dog. He's house trained, loves his food and walks. He can be strong and will need someone to continue with his training. He loves traveling in the car. He's happy here in foster with a large garden to run around and play in. This loving dog needs a special home to call his own.

04-11-23 UPDATE
Sherlock is getting used to living with other dogs and is slowly starting to settle.  As a typical Beagle he loves his food, sniffy walks and going out in the car. He sleeps all night and is clean in the house. He  gets excited when he sees other dogs when out and about but is reasonably good with our elderly cat, but she doesn't run away so not sure what he would do if a cat or other small furry ran away. He's still boisterous so not suitable for young children or anyone vulnerable. Sherlock is a very loving dog and needs a very special home.

21-11-23 UPDATE

Sherlock is loving running around the garden. He likes to follow my husband around especially. Travels well in the car and jumps straight in. Sherlock is a larger Beagle and is quite boisterous but is calmer than when he first came into foster. Sherlock needs a home where he has room to run around and burn off some energy. He gets on with all his foster friends although he does get put in his place by the resident terriers!

10-12-23 UPDATE

Sherlock is continuing to calm down and when taken out for coffee to a well known large garden centre was a very well behaved boy and attracted attention from some visiting beagle lovers. He has been away in the caravan for a weekend and enjoyed some time on the beach. He loves his food, walks and toys. He was very good with a puppy that we had in foster for 2 weeks and was quite gentle with her. Sherlock sleeps through the night and travels well in the car. Sherlock would ideally like to be homed with a confident female dog. He does love to play and is better with a steady day of exercise rather than getting very stimulated and then having to come back down to earth again. Sherlock is a very affectionate dog and thinks he can be a lap dog but as he weighs 17kg is rather large for a lap dog. This handsome lad really would like a home of his own.

07-01-24 UPDATE
Sherlock is still with us in foster and continues to love his walks and an active lifestyle. He loves people and still cannot be left on his own although we are working with this. He loves to play with his foster friend Buttercup and they are often together. He loves going out in the car, clean in the house, sleeps through the night and of course loves his food. He will need a confident dog in his new home or he could go with his foster buddy Buttercup if anyone wants to give these pair a loving forever home. He is a large beagle and can get bossy if he gets nervous.

18-01-24 UPDATE

Sherlock is still waiting for a special home of his own. He is a very active and affectionate dog and loves long walks and playing with toys, but his favourite pastime is playing with his foster buddy Buttercup. He loves going out in the car and travels well. When its meal time he takes himself into a crate and waits for his food. Under all his bravado he can still become unsure when somewhere new.
Sherlock needs another confident dog in his new home, or a home where he will not be left as he gets stressed when left on his own. Sherlock is very human orientated.

01-02-24 UPDATE

Sherlock is so much better now. We can leave him in the car whilst we go shopping as long as he has another dog with him. He has been left at home with his foster friends and not destroyed anything. He still loves his walks and loves to play with his foster buddies but also loves to have a good sleep on the sofa afterwards, especially with his foster buddy Buttercup. He still loves to play with Buttercup and his other friends in foster but does get on with Buttercup very well

15-02-24 UPDATE

Sherlock is still waiting for his forever home. We have now started to leave him at home with the other dogs for an hour to get him used to being left. He can still be quite exuberant but is learning to calm down . Sherlock preferably needs a home with a kind confident playful female dog that will not be daunted by him. Although he is a larger bouncy beagle he can still be sensitive at times.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
