If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

Recently, we recieved a phone call about a group of Beagles who desperately needed to be saved as if no rescue could take them, they were due to be shot within a matter of days. Many Tears were asked to help but unfortunately we were full and couldn't see how we could create enough space to take them in. Hearing about their plight our amazing fosterers stepped up to help and took extra dogs into foster to create enough space at the rescue to bring them in. Beagle lovers on Facebook also heard of their story and we were blown away by how many people showed kindness and support and offered to help them.
They have now arrived with us and are settling in well. We hope that there are plenty of Beagle lovers out there who would like to offer them a home! We have named them all with names centred around the word "Hope", as for these lovely dogs their future is now full of Hope.
Beagles are a wonderful breed, but do best in homes with people who have Beagle experience and we find that ex-breeding Beagles are generally much happier with other dogs around too. These Beagles will be by donation.

26-07-23 Wish hopes for a bright new future. Wish has come to us from a breeder to find his forever home. He has a couple of scars on his face and body but they don't seem to bother him. Wish is full of energy and so will be looking for an active home with adopters who have lots of time to spend with him. He is quite confident and could be homed as an only dog and may prefer to be the only dog in his home. Due to his background Wish is understandably better with female dogs and cannot be homed with male resident dogs. He is a friendly boy and can already walk on a lead but is quite strong with this so this is something his adopters will need to work on with him. He has never lived in a home before so his adopters will need to be kind and understanding as he settles in and learns new skills like house training. Wish is a friendly boy and with time and love he will start to come out of his shell. He cannot live with cats or small furries.

10-08-23 UPDATE

Wish is a gorgeous boy who is waiting for someone committed, and full of love and patience to pop an application in for him. Wish has some hunting background and so will need more stimulation than your average pet, physical and mental, to meet his needs. He'd love to receive his dinner in puzzles or scattered in the garden so he can use his beagle nose to sniff it all out, and he'd love long walks/hikes where he can be "nose to the ground", to his hearts content.
Wish cannot live with cats or small furries! He's a super playful beagle. Initially, when Wish first arrived he really struggled with being shut in a kennel. He spent all day howling at the front and doing everything he could to slip out. He soon settled with the help of some calming supplements and the same daily routine, and now we see him snuggled up in bed with his kennel friend after a good run in the yard! It's most likely that if Wish hasn't been in a home before he will probably go a little backwards and be very unsettled for the first few days, looking for a way out and restless,as you can see from the pictures he's a busy boy and doesn't want to sit still for nice pictures, just wants to make the most of being out of his kennel! But with a consistent routine I think he'll settle nicely. With this in mind, safety should take priority, like making sure he's behind a barrier before opening any doors that he could escape from.
He's a smart boy and needs someone committed to gently guiding him in life and gently showing him how to be a pet in a very human world. He needs someone understanding of his anxieties and committed to helping him through them, not telling him off. He can be pully on the lead when he first gets out of his kennel but I think with his needs met and some guidance with this he'll be a super star, like I said, he's super smart! Please don't let this special boy wait in kennels any longer. Wish is also 100% toilet clean in his kennel, even overnight, so this should transfer easily into a home.

05-09-23 UPDATE

Wish is a busy boy who enjoys being super active. He is keen to be out of his kennel and still requires supplements to help him settle in. While he has improved with the help of a kennel friend and toys to keep him busy he does not enjoy kennel life. He would benefit from an outdoor and active lifestyle full of games to help keep his mind occupied. Wish is still a strong puller on the lead without rewards to hand, treats would be a great start as he loves his food! Wish also enjoys toys and loves fetching balls and tugging ropes he has lots of energy so it takes a good while to ware him out! If you feel you could provide the home wish needs, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

07-09-23 UPDATE

Say hi to most brilliant beagle I have ever met. Wish came to us from a working background and has so much companionship to give it hurts to watch him here In a kennel. For a beagle who has come from a working background he has unmatchable qualities…he is extremely well mannered and loving…his little face when you ask him to sit for a treat is the most loving thing I’ve seen. He is such a softy and clearly has a lot of love to give.
Wish is extremely energetic and needs to have a home upon which can support his needs. A big garden or an active household who walks a lot and is always busy…as a beagle he already has high demands when it comes to stimulation but as an ex working dog this is all he knows, so someone who is savy and knows the beagle breed would benefit him greatly. He has all the usual beagle qualities, but he also has a side that makes him act like a big fluffy Labrador.
Wish is currently kennelled with a larger female but  could be homed as an only dog too. Wish would be better suited to a home with no children as he can be quite full of energy. Wish is such an incredible beagle he is wasted here. If you’d like to come and meet him he is currently at the rescue.

23-09-23 UPDATE
Wish is one of the beagles that came from a hunting background and seems to have been left behind while most of his pals have been adopted!
Wish is only 3, and he is really really struggling in kennels, with his intense scent nose and busy brain shut away from the world.
He's a gorgeous gorgeous boy, but he's very 'independent.'
He doesn't look to humans or dogs for confidence, he just wants to be nosy and busy and busy and busy and busy!! He is definitely THE smartest dog I've ever met.
With his hunting history, he gets very carried away with his nose and loses focus on the person walking him. He is extreeeeemely food focused though and today we spent some time just working on bringing his attention back to me, and loose lead walking. Later on, when he saw a cat, he went into overdrive pulling and howling to get to it, but as soon as I used the "hey, here!" In a friendly high pitched voice he came straight back to focus on me with a gorgeous sit and waiting for his reward for making the right choice. He picked this up in just 1 day! Honestly I think in the right hands he'd be the MOST superb boy. I'm so looking forward to doing some more focus work with him!
Wish cannot go home with male dogs, in fact he has become more picky about which female dogs he likes too so I think going home as an ONLY DOG would be best for him. I think he'd thrive with someone who is interested in dog behaviour and what makes dogs tick. Someone who finds training fun and is always coming up with new things for him to work his super active brain!
He needs a home with no cats or small furries, I think even cats visiting the garden could be a risk.
He is a super special boy and it breaks my heart that he's sitting in kennels when he literally needs so so much more than that to be even slightly satisfied and happy!

07-10-23 UPDATE
Just look how amazing Wish can be when his busy brain is occupied! When he first gets out of his kennel he pulls like a train!!! But as soon as you've tapped into what motivates him he's a dream. Wish would be a PERFECT dog for someone who is interested in dog training, what makes them tick, and he'll be so much fun to work with and teach new stuff daily. He'll be one of them dogs that will pick stuff up so easily and have a huge skill set! He doesn't sell himself well here at the centre, with his hunting history, he's not designed to be shut away in a kennel. NO MALE DOGS. NO CATS.

01-11-23 UPDATE
Wish is a super boy, friendly, fun and smart. He absolutely loves spending time outdoors and is full of beans.  He has learnt to walk well on a lead, but he can be very strong! especially if he sees something of interest, and will benefit from further positive lead work training in his new home.
His main caregiver here at the rescue has taught him to sit,, and a few other tricks and is also working on doggie manners with him which he has responded to brilliantly.
Wish would be best suited as an only dog in his new home, he does not get on with male dogs and can be a little fussy about female companions, please also note Wish absolutely CANNOT  live with cats.
We think this boy is a gem, he’s ever so loving and so keen to please, if you are looking for an energetic, clever boy and you have the time to spend with him, teaching him new tricks and keeping him busy, then please do consider him and fill in an application fom.

08-12-23 UPDATE

Wish is a gorgeous man full of life and I really am crossing all of my fingers that he won't spend Christmas in a kennel. He's come on a lot since he first arrived and now with the cold weather he will chose to stay in the back of his kennel; which is a huge difference to the stressed beagle that first arrived with us, doing anything he can to escape. He loves fusses and once you've got that bond with him he will happily curl up in your warm lap and snuggle down. To see how Wish has settled and his true personality shone through I've really fallen for him. Wish does need an active home, but he still would love someone who can promote calm in the home and who will give him all the snuggles in the world when he's in his cosy mood! He needs someone who is confident with what they're doing and is going to use science based methods of training that won't scare or hurt him. He is a sensitive soul, even if he doesn't make out to be! Wish can be an only dog if his adopters are around most of the time. He could go home with a playful female dog, as long as she would be super tolerable as he loves a rough and tumble play! Wish can be reactive to male dogs but he is making huge progress with this with the help of squeezy cheese! He has now started to look at me when he sees something he wants to react at- this is HUGE progress and I reward heavily each time to eventually teach him that the safest option is to turn to his trusted human for comfort rather than to react. Wish is a super super special boy and I'm desperate for the day someone else will see just how special he is like I do!

28-12-23 UPDATE

Today Wish and myself braved this awful weather we’ve been having, and it turns out Wish absolutely loves the water!
It really put a smile on my face seeing him have such a good time regardless of how soaked we were getting. I haven’t had the privilege to work with Wish that much, but I can really say, what a character he is! This little man would make a fantastic companion for the right person.

08-02-24 UPDATE

Wish is still waiting for his own person to appear. He's doing well with his routine here, and each day I see little improvements, but I think he really needs someone to break him out of kennel life now. He's done his waiting, when is it his turn? As said above, Wish can be strong on the lead, but with lots of love, consistency and understanding, he now doesn't pull on the lead for me. I love Wish with my whole heart, but with a male dog at home I just can't take him, otherwise he'd be mine. And so it is breaking my heart to see him wait this long in kennels. He needs someone who will love him more than I do (if that's possible!) He needs an active, cat & small furry free home. Preferably a larger garden so he can really use up that beagle energy. Someone who he can snuggle with in the evening. And someone who knows how to have a laugh! As his mischievous ways makes all us staff laugh every single day. Please let Wish's new life begin soon, he's done his waiting!

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
