If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

19-06-2023 Edward is a very scared boy who has come to us from a breeder.  He will frantically try to get away from you and once you have him he completely shuts down.  Edward has mature bilateral cateracts but does have vision and will be seeing our vet to see if anything can be done.  He needs an adult only very experienced home who have had scared dogs before.  There must be at least one other very kind and confident dog to help Edward realise there is nothing to fear.  His new friend(s) will need to help Edward about how to live in a home with humans who will love him.  He has never even seen the inside of a home before and so this will be overwhelming at first and he will need to learn new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. These are things that may take him a little time to get the hang of as the garden may be as scary for him and the inside of the home at first. Edward needs adopters who understand and have the time, love and patience to help him discover the joys that his new life will bring.  Lead walking will need to start in the garden to make sure he is comfortable wearing a harness and lead before venturing out in the world.  Edward really needs that extra special person who can see the potential he has to become a wonderful friend.

28-08-23 UPDATE

Edward is still showing signs of being nervous around humans, but every day that he learns your voice and your smell, his confidence grows. He relies heavily on his kenel mate for support, but now wanders around the yard by himself sniffing and smelling all there is to take in. He no longer shakes when patted or held, but still shrinks away from humans, when he hears them approach.
He shows a friendly and curious personality underneath his anxious exterior. All he needs is a calm loving enviromment who understand his special circumstances. Edward shows wonderful awareness of his surroundings and a confidence that beliles his lack of sight. He's a charming boy who desperately needs a loving home with another confident dog to show him how to be himself.

23-11-23 UPDATE
Edward is making great progress and has been such a brave and gentle boy He has just about mastered toilet training, and can now walk fabulously on a slip lead and harness (will still double lead him for extra security for a while). He adores his walks and his tail doesn’t stop wagging when out. He’s getting used to having a little tickle and ear rub, he turns away and is a little wary when you do start and then turns back around to look for you when you stop. He is adorable and brave and adores his brother Elis whom he is much more confident around. He has now had his cataract surgery and needs to be calm as possible for 4 weeks and is letting us do his eye drops three times a day, he will need check ups with the eye hospital (in Bristol) to monitor his recovery.

23-01-24 UPDATE

Ed is continuing to come along every week.  He is so much more confident outside with his sight being so good now.  He adores his walks and other dogs.  He’s very food driven, still very timid with people and would prefer to retreat to a corner of a room, but loves all dogs and is very good with our cat.
Ed is a very special boy.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
