If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

24-08-2023 Bella has come to us from a breeder and is a very timid and gentle soul who has arrived here underweight so we are slowly going to build her up with small and frequent meals.  Bella loves a cuddle and comes straight up to you when you enter her kennel to say hello.  she has a bend at the end of her tail which is uncomfortable when you touch it so our vet will have a look at that as soon as possible. Bella has some hot spots that our vets are treating.  Bella will need a home where there is at least one other dog to be her friend and support as she gets used to living in a home and she has never lived in one before.  She will watch what they do and then start to copy them which will help her with house training and lead walking etc. Her adopters need to have plenty of patience and love to help her learn and be sure she is comfortable walking on a harness and lead in the garden before taking her for a walk in the outside world.  Bella has a Pets Travel Document.
Poor Bella has seen our vets and had a mammary lump removed and sent off for testing which has returned stating the lump was cancerous, this may have already spread or spread in the future which adopters need to be aware of and able to monitor with their own vets. Bella deserves to be in a kind loving home asap, enjoying all the creature comforts and feeling so loved regardless of what the future may hold. Now it is even more important for Bella to be able to experience being a cherished member of the family.

06-09-23 UPDATE

Bella is such a friendly girl who gently pushes her way to the front of the pack to get some attention, she is a real cuddle monster, who likes nothing more than a big hug, and will remind you with a nudge or a whine if you stop too soon, she loves to run and play with her kennel friends in the play yard and she is progressing well with her lead training.

03-10-23 UPDATE

Bella has been with us a week and is getting happier and braver each day. She was initially wary of us, but very soon decided we were ok. Now she loves to stay close and if she could she would attach herself to you, so she can be constantly stroked.
She is less confident inside than when out ,and prefers to be outside or hog the doorway!
Bella likes to join her bernese friends for a run and it is lovely to see her getting happier running and playing with the others. Bella still needs to improve her lead walking as she just freezes at the moment, but this will come with time. She has been clean since she arrived and is enjoying putting on some much needed weight.
Whatever the future holds for Bella, she is determined to make the most of life and become someone’s very precious companion.

17-01-24 UPDATE

Bella is one very special girl and she is definitely wanting to catch up on lost time and thinks she deserves to be the centre of someone’s world. Is it you?

You will see she is hard to photograph as she is always at your feet, looking up waiting to be stroked or given a tasty treat in exchange for her beautiful smile. She will need a companion that won’t mind playing second fiddle to her, as she always does like to push in next to you so you can adore her the most, but is never nasty about it.
As Bella has a big appetite and she does have a sensitive tum, she is now doing well on Arden grange sensitive, and it is good to see her weight and coat are now improving too.
Bella is still reluctant about lead walking, so having a bigger garden for her to continue to practice in would help her.
Although once she gets to know you she is confident, she is still quite wary of new situations and so would thrive better in a quieter home. We don’t know what the future holds for Bella, but whatever it is she is determined to make the best of being in a home and being the adoring Bernese companion she always wanted to be.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
