If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

26-10-2023 Caftan is a lovely lady who has come to us from a breeder.  She is slightly timid and shut down but easy to handle and once in your arms she does settle down if you speak gentle to her.  She will need a home where there is at least one other dog to be her friend and who will allow her to cuddle up with them for comfort and support if she wants to.  Caftan will watch what they do and then start to copy them which will help her with house training.  She will need to learn about how to walk on a lead and with time, love and patience she will gradually start to realise she is loved and there is nothing to fear and her adopter will be rewarded with a devoted forever friend.

26-01-24 UPDATE

Caftan is doing really well here with us in her foster home. She is a flighty nervous girl and is reluctant to be stroked, she will stop and let you but then run away as soon as she can, but she just needs time to learn it's nice.
She is very good at following the other dogs out to the garden to go to the toilet (she is 90% toilet trained) and certainly does learn from watching them and is happy being with them. But she is still very scared of us, mostly running away to hide, but then ventures back towards us as she feels more comfortable, then runs back...
In the last few days she has come up to us while we've been fussing our dogs, just enough to get a quick touch of her nose so she's starting to get it... Lead walking will come in time, but at the moment if we put a lead on her, she just freezes and won't move.
She'll need a very patient family to introduce her to the idea of going for a walk and the joys of it ... Certainly a long way off walking off lead as currently she would just run and be a serious flight risk! But we think the way to Caftan's heart is through food, she loves her food! She gets much braver at food time and will come and take a treat from us eventually.
Caftan would thrive in a calm quiet home, ideally with a home who has experience of a very nervous dog. She needs a patient home who is willing to help and teach her all the world has to offer without pushing. She will need a kind resident dog to show her the ropes and who will understand she may not be a companion/playmate for them straight away. She watches our dogs but doesn't yet really interact with them, but given time she will blossom.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
