07-09-24 Margot is a lovely girl who came to us from her breeder to find her forever home a few months ago. Margot has been adopted but sadly her adopters made the tough decision to return her after she began displaying some signs of guarding within the home and struggled to live with other dogs.
Margot became extremely bonded to her female adopter and was very anxious around the male adopter. As a result, she was so attached to the female in the home that she began to guard her from the other humans and resident dogs in the home too.
We feel like Margot would be best suited to a home as an only dog, where she can get all the love and attention. She does get on well with other dogs outside the home, it's just inside the home she struggles to live with them. Margot will be looking for an adult only home with no visiting children and we feel like she would be best suited to a female only home, possibly in a single person family. She will need a home with adopters who have experience working with dogs which display guarding behaviors.
Margot is such a sweet girl and has many good qualities. In the right home we think she will truly thrive and be the most wonderful companion. We are told that Margots recall is good and she comes back to 3 whistles. She travels well in the car and is a good eater and we believe she is toilet trained but she may need some reminders of this in her new home.

25-09-24 UPDATE
Margot has unfortunately found herself back at the rescue due to guarding issues in the home. The above post explains what the main issues were. For the right adopter though, Margot is a loveable cocker spaniel who wants nothing more than to share her life with an adopter who has all the time in the world for her. Whenever someone goes into a kennel with a lead, she gets very excited and loves playing outside and is getting better walking on a lead now she knows that a lead isn’t scary. Although she is going to be an only dog, she is currently kennelled with another spaniel who she gets on great with. Meeting other dogs will not be a problem for this lady, but unfortunately she doesn’t like to share so hence why she must be an only. (That is, unless her adopter is experienced in dogs that guard and is happy to give her the time she needs while living with another dog!). She is typically a little shy and scared when meeting new people as are most ex-breeding dogs, but once she has got to know you she becomes more relaxed and friendly, and with time will become a true campanion to anyone who wishes to adopt this lady

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
