25-06-24 Brie is an absolute sweetheart who has already stolen the hearts of all the staff members at the rescue. She’s extremely placid and gentle, but she’s already learning that human hands can be kind. She is now happy to approach us sheepishly for a little fuss, and will walk forward for more when you stop. She especially loves a gentle scratch under her ears! Brie does also have a playful side to her and comes alive in our big secure yard. She runs around like there’s no tomorrow and it’s really lovely to see. She’s very easy to handle and will let you do things to her such as groom her with no issues. She would like a kind resident dog in her new home to be her best friend and also show her everything she needs to know about home living. Everything will be brand new for her as she’s never been in one before, so she may be a little overwhelmed to begin with and will need help leanring new skills such as housetraining and learning to walk on a lead/harness. She would prefer a calm, adult only home as we think children would probably be too much for her. In the right home, we really do believe she will blossom into the most loving little girl!

After further examination our vets have recommended that Brie has an x-ray of her left leg and hip due to lacking muscle mass combined with lameness.
23-07-24 UPDATE
Brie has had x-rays taken and has been assessed by an orthopaedic vet to have total failure of her left achielles tendon. Brie doesn't appear to be in any pain and happily runs around like there's nothing wrong with her. It's felt that she could benefit from an operation but will be assessed to see if that is best for her and if she would be able to cope with the recovery, in the meantime the vets are looking at using a hock brace in preparartion if the surgery would go ahead.
24-07-24 UPDATE
Brie has been with me for just about a month now and I’m falling more and more in love with her every day. We spend a lot of time together and I can tell she feels quite comfortable in my presence now, so is more than happy to sit right next to me to chill out. She’s still enjoying some fusses under her ears, but apart from that she does still find human hands a bit scary. She’s not comfortable with a body rub yet, or hands going over her head. That’s absolutely fine though, because I do think she will get there in time!
Every day I put some toys into Brie’s kennel so she can enjoy them with her friends. She didn’t really know what to do at first, but she quite enjoys them now! It’s so lovely to walk past her and see her chewing on a bone or a ball - it’s just a small glimpse of what her life could be like. Once she’s able to let go of her past, I just know this girl is going to absolutely blossom into the most precious soul. She just needs time, love and consistency … and a whole load of kindness.
24-08-24 UPDATE
Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing some harness training with Brie, and I honestly can’t get over how well she’s taken to it. We’ve only been out a few times, but she is doing such a good job!!!! Of course we’re still very early days so we’ve only been using really quiet areas not to overwhelm her, but I’m so proud of what she’s accomplished so far. Most of the time when I harness train my nervous dogs, I always take a friend out with them for reassurance, but something told me Brie would be okay by herself .. and I was right! This is actually really impressive and a credit to how brave she’s being. With some more practice, I do think she’ll start to enjoy walks relatively soon, so I’ll keep you all updated!

Brie is still a timid little angel but is becoming more brave around people she knows. She will approach you to lick your fingers but is still unsure about receiving fuss, but will allow it if you go slowly with her. She’s doing well with her harness training but prefers to do it in quieter/more familiar areas.
Brie is currently kennelled with her friend who is having to take it easy and she has been absolutely wonderful in keeping her kennel friend calm and has been great company for them. Sadly, her friend is due to leave for their forever home this week which will leave Brie by herself, or kennelled with new faces, either way she will have to face change which will likely stress her out a little. It’d be amazing to get this sweet girl in a home so she can learn that we’re not all that scary and see the luxuries of home life for herself.
19-09-24 UPDATE
Brie is very well in herself and zooming around very happily whilst not appearing to be in any pain. Due to this combined with Brie not being happy to wear the hock brace, it has been decided that it is currently in Brie's best interests to continue to monitor her and that surgery is not necessary at the moment as she is doing very well whilst also having concerns with how she would cope with recovery. She is now available to be adopted or fostered but adopters would need to be able to financially care for Brie and their vets to monitor her as it is unlikley insurance will cover the failure of the left achilles tendon.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
