23-08-24 Ranger is a gorgeous boy who has come from his breeder to find a loving home. He can already walk on a lead and cannot wait to go on long walks with his new family. He is a kindhearted and gentle boy who deserves a wonderful home where he can be loved and cherished. He gets on well with other dogs and will need a kind resident dog to support him and help him settle into home life. He is a larger boy at approx 26kg currently and we think he may be a Harrier (type of Hound) but cannot be certain. Ranger will need to learn all about house training and other such home skills.. We think this boy is lovely and we think given some time and patience as he settles he is going to truly love being someones special boy.

Ranger, Harrier Hound, aged 4 travelled beautifully in the foster run van and then in our car boot on the way home. He greeted our three residents very respectfully initially but soon found that he and our foster Pointer MT Jess share a great love of play! We spent a good hour watching them zoomie and run together! Ranger then played quite a focussed game by himself of throwing and catching a garden glove. (see video) . It was lovely to see him so happy having had such a long day travelling. Ranger is a very easy-going little lad, weighing in around 25kg and at about 55 cm high. Ranger sleeps in a medium open dog crate by choice , all night. He is a little hand-shy and unsure of sudden movements or loud noises for now. I'm sure that he will overcome both of these worries, as he settles into the rhythm of home-life, and with ongoing gentle reassurance that he'll be safe now. Ranger will need another kind dog in his forever home, although having closely observed him here around our dogs, he is highly dog-savvy and could be homed as a companion for a more robust, higher energy breed as he has shown he doesn't struggle to set boundaries for our pushy, bossy german shorthaired pointer foster Jess. Ranger is 98% house-trained already, clever man! There has only been a couple of leg-cocking incidents in two days and no poos inside. Ranger is calm on the lead and I'm looking forward to taking him to our secure dog field later this week when he has had more opportunity to settle with us. Ranger can be homed with dog - aware children of around 8 years upwards & upwards. Ranger will make a perfect ready made dog addition, now is his time to find his loving happy, ever after.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
