30-08-2024 Sassy has come to us from a breeder. She is an extremely scared girl who doesn't approach us and is very worried about being touched and handled so much so that she screams if you go to pick her up. Although we were told Sassy is 1 we feel she may be a little older but we will get our vet to have a look at her once she has settled in and is a little calmer. Sassy will need an adult only and very experienced home who have had scared dogs before and understand how to work with her to overcome her fears. Children would be too much and completely overwhelming for her so it must be a child free home.
Sassy will need a very secure garden and home as she is a flight risk and there must be at least one other confident dog, that is her size or larger as she can be sassy to other dogs at times, to help her and who will allow her to cuddle up with them for comfort and support if she wants to. She has never been in a home so this is going to be completely overwhelming at first and she will need owners with endless time and patience to help her learn about house training etc. At first the garden may be as scary and the inside of the home so getting in the garden and then back in the home could take time. Sassy has no idea about lead walking and this is something her new owners will need to work on once they have gained her trust. They will need to start practicing in the garden and then progress outside in quiet areas and the importance of double leading Sassy cannot be stressed enough. In time and with owners who really understand her needs Sassy will slowly start to flourish and become the happy girl she should have always been. She has a PETS travel document.
24-09-2024 UPDATE
Sassy has made quite remarkable progress since arriving at the centre, she now loves to play with pretty much anything she can find, including toys, bedding and her kennel friends.
She doesn't like sharing her food so does tell other dogs off if they are near her when eating. She will need dogs her size or larger and seems to prefer male dogs at the centre.
Sassy had a breakthrough today and for the first time since arriving, she didn't scream at all when I picked her up and carried her, she was honestly as quiet as a mouse and I'm so proud of her for being so brave.
Sassy needs a home with people who will be able to nurture her happy puppy side and help her blossom in to a well rounded dog that doesn't fear humans anymore.

Sassy is getting a little braver each day and is already showing her big character! She had her first taste of squeezey cheese today and is now a big fan. It’s so lovely to see her grow into such a darling. This girl is still very shy but is ready for the next step in her life and she really needs her own humans who can devote all the time and love to her that she deserves.

Sassy by name sassy by nature! This little floof is such a joy to have on section. If she’s not fighting and rolling around with her blankets then she’s playing and bouncing about with her little red ball! She is full of fun and sass! Sassy is progressing well; she still isn’t a fan of being picked up but we are working on this everyday. She is very fond on treats and will happily take them from our hands and if we place them in our laps, which is also encouraging her to come closer to us and is working well! She’s had a mini face trim today but still needs more taken off but didn’t want to stress or push her too much but she done ever so well! Sassy would benefit from a quiet home with no children and adopters who have time and patience to work along side with her. She would prefer a larger dog or equivalent to her size to share her new home with.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
