02-09-24 Velvet is a heartbreaking girl who is so beautiful but so scared of people, her whole world has turned upside down and her biggest comfort is other dogs who she snuggles next to and at times hides behind. She is very touch sensitive and obviously hasn't experienced much of this from people in her first 4 years, she will bury her had and try to wiggle away when we reach to gently touch her, despite this she is very gentle and not aggressive at all. Velvet will need a scared ex-breeder experienced home that can work with her everyday with lots of positivity to help her get used to human contact and kindness. This will definitely be a project dog with someone who has lots of patience and love at the ready. Velvet would also need a very secure home and garden as she would be a flight risk. Velvet has never lved in a home before or done anything that would be normal for a pet dog, for example, to go for a walk, have a treat, wear a harness, have cuddles on the sofa. Due to this Velvet will need very understanding adopters that can help her learn new skills such as hosuetraining and learning to walk on a lead/harness when she is ready and only in very secure places initially after practicing in the house and garden. Velvet will need an adult only home and will thrive in a home with multiple kind, confident resident dogs that she can get comfort from, snuggle amongst and copy in her new life. Velvet is such a special girl who has been through so much and cannot wait for her new life to begin, even if that is scary for her at first. Velvet has pets travel document.

Velvet is a nervous lady but the more time you spend with her the more at ease she is around you. She is a gorgous girl who is still trying to find her feet, but I think with a bit of security she’ll start to blossom. She loves being with her kennel friends and is more confident around them, she would benefit greatly from at least one confident resident dog. Velvet is looking for a calm home where she will have the space to get used to her new surroundings without being overwhelmed. Velvet will also need someone who has the time and patients to work with her and take one day at a time it at her pace. Velvet has soooo much potential that she just needs to start her new chapter in life and sooner rather than later. Please don’t keep her waiting long

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
ADOPTION DETAILS
If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
