If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.
20-09-2024 Meeka is the most gorgeous girl with the sweetest personality. She has come to us from a breeder and is quite nervous and easily spooked by loud noises. She so wants to be brave and will come up to you if you sit quietly and allows us to gently give her a fuss. Meeka does walk on a lead but will will need help with house training. She has never lived in a home before and so this will be quite scary at first so she will need a home where there is at least one other dog to help her settle and adjust. In a quiet and gentle home with adopters who have plenty of time and patience to help Meeka realise there is nothing to worry about, Meeka is going to become a really loving girl to share your life with. Meeka has a PETS travel document.

Mimi (MT Meeku) is an almost, one year old, female German Shorthaired Pointer. Mimi has come into foster and is a very, very scared pup just now. Mimi is going to need the kindest owners who are experienced with frightened dogs who will support and guide Mimi to start to see that the world can be kind, and most of all that she can relax now and start to enjoy her young, energetic years: hopefully as much as possible, as any high-energy, young GSP would.
Mimi is choosing to spend lots of her time in an open crate she has chosen in our home office, which is a quieter space than the rest of our downstairs. Mimi will accept gentle strokes and in the last 24 hours we are starting to see the tiniest tail wags too and she is not bracing away from our touch as much. Mimi is at her most scared outside in our garden for now: she will "go to ground" at the slightest noise, BUT our dogs do give her some reassurance when they are close by. Mimi is ONLY going out on a longline as advised by her kennel team, and she clearly is so frightened right now she could potentially hurt herself running away and would be hard to catch. Even on the long-lead Mimi needs to be carefully watched, as if the line touches her, she is very scared of it and panics.
In summary, Mimi has so much potential to leave her scared-self far behind. To achieve this Mimi is looking for the following in her new person/people: experienced with very scared dogs, able to commit consistent time & patience to her rehabilitation, accepting this may take some time; ideally with experience of owning higher-energy breeds (whilst Mimi is subdued now), she should become a very busy girlie in a few months with love); a kind, yet robust, medium to large resident dog, who is going to need to be both gentle with her initially but then a dedicated play-mate, as she unfurls (big ask!) and most of all, much time to devote to teaching Mimi how to be a pet, continue with her house-training, desensitisation to the outside world/normal home goings-on etc and in time her basic obedience training.
As a working, high-energy breed Mimi is going to benefit in future from both her brain and her body being stimulated every day, she hopefully won't be a dog content to just slob on the sofa and watch you work all day. She will want a good chunk of you everyday to have fun with (and in true, GSP velcroness cuddle up with), do puzzles and get out into the wide world, maybe doing owner and dog activities like mantrailing, hoopers or other fun things.

Little Mimi GSP (MT Meeku) has shown us how amazing she is at foster-life, this week.
Just a week in to home-life and, Mimi has gained enough confidence to begin to leave the crate she chose, for short periods. Mimi arrived needing to perfect her house-training. Already, just by copying our dogs, almost all wees are now happening outside, with just the odd overnight poo accident. Mimi is starting to show us her normal, playful puppy side and is enjoying the dog toys/games we have here. Her doggy manners are, understandably, still work in progress, and she sometimes makes tiny mistakes, by taking toys from Jess, another GSP which she is learning is not acceptable!
Mimi remains quite overwhelmed by being out in our garden, to help her progress and feel secure hubby has fenced in a much smaller area of our garden and this appears to give her confidence - we are all spending short periods, outside regularly. Mimi has already come to a secure field with our dogs and had a blast! She hardly broke a sweat charging around and initiating crazy games, initially on a held long-line and then for most of the hour was free with a long trailing lead.
Mimi, who MT believe has completed a short period being gun-dog trained is showing that her recall, is, in parts there, but I'll assess further. Mimi, as a German shorthaired pointer, is a high-energy breed and also a very young dog and will throughout most of her life need ALOT of interesting exercise, both physical and mental, to avoid any unwanted behaviours.
Mimi is starting to chew the usuals (shoes) in the house , it's easily manageable so far, but she is still a very young dog needing more training, so her new owner(s) will need to be prepared for this initially. Finally, Mimi has literally astounded us with her capacity to move on from her difficult start and terrified arrival state. Despite still being a scared girl she is quickly seeing that home-life can be quite nice and is grabbing life with all her paws. Mimi will need patient, experienced, with scared rescue dog, owners, another kind but robust, medium to large resident dog (Mimi has shown here she needs to live with a dog, not afraid to redirect her puppy gaffs!) and ideally very regular access to the countryside or large spaces for running and fun. NO cats or small furries sorry.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
