Location: In Foster in Templecombe, Somerset |
09-10-2024 Star is the sweetest little girl who was brought to us from a breeder with multiple bite wounds and in need of medical attention. She is now being treated by our vet and is healing really well from her injuries and being as brave as she possibly can in the kennels. She is currently kenneled alone to allow her the time she needs during her healing process, but we believe she would be best homed with a resident dog in the home to rely on for support and assurance while she settles into her new home. As she has not lived in a home before she will need her adopters to be kind and understanding as she settles in and learns all about home life and new skills such as house trainings and how to walk on a lead. Since Star has been through so much already, it would be best for her to be homed with experienced owners that are understanding of ex-breeding dogs, as well as an adult-only home. Star is a sweet natured girl that is looking for a second chance at life to learn all about love, kindness and affection.
02-11-24 UPDATE
Star has needed lots of special vet care for her wounds during her recovery here. She has also needed to have part of her tail amputated. She is healing well and going from strength to strength. She really is a little Star! Whilst not quite ready for adoption yet we would be prepared to receive applications for her now - her future is so much brighter!
10-11-2024 UPDATE
10/11/24- Star has adjusted to life in a foster home brilliantly. She's friendly, affectionate, loves a good fuss, and can be playful too. She seems to know nothing of her traumatic past and is wanting to make the most her second chance at the good life! She hasn't had any toiletting accidents and travels well in the car. She's learning to walk on a lead and is picking this up fast, she's keen to please and is an easy girl to train. She is living with 3 other calm dogs (2 Chihuahua's and a Cocker Spaniel) this seems to have improved her confidence as she tries to play with them. She seems to thrive from human attention and would love someone who can adore her.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
