01-11-24 Christmas is a shy girl who has come to us from a home through no fault of her own as her owner had fifty dogs in a very small home and could not cope. She is a little wary of new people, but after some time she is able to settle in. As Christmas has not shown her confidence yet, she will need a resident dog to rely on for comfort and support as she is used to being raised with her brothers and sisters. She will also need her adopters to be kind and understanding, as well as provide her with some basic TLC, and allow her some time to settle in as she builds her confidence with her new family. Christmas has lived in a home, but has not yet learned skills such has house training and how to walk on a lead, so her new family will need to be gentle as she learns. Christmas would suit best in a child and cat free home as she is quite nervous and requires a calm and comfortable environment. She really is a sweet girl just looking for someone to take a chance on her to show her love and affection. She is looking for a cat free home.
20-11-2024 UPDATE
Christmas is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing and it’s an absolute joy to look after her here at the rescue. She’s a quiet girl who enjoys snoozing away in the back of her kennel under a heat lamp, but she does also LOVE having human company once she gets to know you .. and it doesn’t take long either! This is only my second day working with her and she’s already comfortable enough to ask me for fusses, snuggle into me, and even fall asleep right next to me. I think she may be a little overwhelmed when she first gets to her new home just because she’s a sensitive soul, but I really don’t think it will take her long to adapt. Christmas would love a kind resident dog in her new home who would let her cuddle up with them and also teach her everything she needs to know. Even though she has lived in a home before, it wasn’t a normal setup by any means so she may need to learn some of the basics. Again, I don’t think it will take her long to pick everything up .. she just needs to be given some time and understanding. She’s been through a lot in her life and I really do think it’s her time to shine now. I hope she doesn’t have to wait here for too much longer!

Christmas has come a long way since her arrival and now absolutely adores all the humans here at the rescue. She is one of the most affectionate dogs I have on my section at the moment and I LOVE sitting in the back of her kennel having big snuggles with her. Her favourite thing is when I sit down and she gets to hop up onto my lap and give me all the hugs and kisses she wants to (always a lot)!! Christmas had learned how to walk on a harness since being with me and she’s doing extremely well. She’s still a little timid around busy areas, but that’s totally to be expected for a good while. Once she gets the hang of it though, I think she’s going to absolutely love joining her family on adventures.
I do now think Christmas would be ok being homed as an only dog, just as long as her adopters are home most of the time. She can also be homed with older, sensible children, but no cats as she has failed her cat test unfortunately. Please don’t keep this special girl waiting too much longer!!
