05-12-2024 Foggy is a beautiful beagle who likes to keep herself to herself. She is more of an observer when her kennel mates are running around and prefers to be snuggled up in her bed where it's warm. Foggy doesn't mind a gentle fuss but she needs time and patience to understand that human touch can be kind and gentle. She will need gentle adopters who understand how nervous she may be at first, she will need a quiet environment to settle therefore a home without children would be best for her. Foggy has come to us from a breeder and she will need another resident dog to keep her company and that is all she has ever known. Foggy will also need a helping paw when it comes to house manners such as lead training, toilet training and also adjusting to house sounds she may not have heard before such as the TV and hoover. Foggy is a very gentle girl and we can see in her eyes how much she wants to be loved.

04-01-25 UPDATE

So today I had the pleasure of meeting a very special beagle named Foggy. I had never met her before today and may I just say she did incredibly well meeting a stranger. She is an ex-breeding dog so she does display allot of worry around humans. When I entered her kennel she was the first of her kennel to come and greet me, I leant down and made some kissing noises and high pitched sounds and she was extremely waggy and decided to kiss my hand and retreat. I then tried again with some tasty snacks and she came again and just couldn’t quite take the treat from my hand as she is still a little unsure. If I put the treat on the floor she took it no problem at all.
I know she doesn’t walk on a lead yet but I persisted to see what result I’d find if I took her out of her kennel to an open space to see how she would act. I was very surprised to see that she didn’t shut down completely. Usually when you take a dog that’s only known the company of another dog away from their friends they shut down and are rooted to the spot. This was not the case. Foggy actually seemed quite at ease, not walking with me but was happy to have her own little sniff around and just took the open world in. She definitely enjoyed the experience. As the minutes passed she began to walk around a lot and just enjoyed every new smell she found. If I made a squeaky noise/ a coaxing noise for her to follow me she would shut down and wouldn't walk with me. However I had just taken her away from her friends so I didn’t expect much more.
I feel that with a canine companion she would definitely grip the concept of walking on a lead, especially with a harness on, this would aid her greatly when I comes to nailing lead walking…where I’ve mentioned her having a canine friend to follow, it is vital at this moment in time that she is to be homed with at least one other resident dog in her new home. Foggy is currently kennelled with a large cocker spaniel, another beagle, and a smaller cockerpoo, she gets along amazingly with them, and I’ve been told by their kennel daddy that they all huddle, and snuggle at night.
Foggy will continue to grow in confidence here, and with proper socialising and some positive reinforcement she will become a lot happier and more at ease around us humans. We don't think it will be too long before she will be climbing on your lap for a cuddle. Because of her nervous deposition she would find younger children overwhelming at the moment.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
