22-01-25 Jelly has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very shut down girl at the moment who is very frightened and overwhelmed to find herself here. She will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs. She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to be her friend and take her under their wing. She has never lived in a home before so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she settles in and learns all about home life and new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. She is a very lovely girl who just needs lots of love and kindness as she starts to come out of her shell and settle into her new life. Jelly has a PETs travel document.
30-01-25 UPDATE
Jelly arrived during the awful weather we had last Sunday. It was windy and the rain was lashing down so despite her reservations she quickly learnt to come into the house where it was warm and dry and better still there was a cosy bed waiting for her by the radiator. Jelly is a typical ex-breeder who is not used to human company so relies on my dogs to show her how things work and to give her that extra bit of confidence when required. For this reason she will need a canine companion in her new home. She is absolutely gorgeous and is going to make a fabulous family member once she has got her head around being a pet dog. Since she has been here she has not put a paw wrong. She sleeps quietly in her bed in the kitchen at night and has not had toileting accidents (she has regular trips into the garden between the rain showers). She has found the toy box and selected her favourite toys which are left all over the floor. Jelly enjoys her food and treats but is not yet brave enough to take treats from my hand. Last night we had a break though in as much as she let me stroke her head. Normally when you walk towards Jelly, she walks away so this was progress. We are not rushing her but giving her time to settle so for this reason we have not yet attempted to take her out for a walk. Give her a few more days and I'm sure she will be walking like a pro. If you are looking for a new family member, have some time on your hands and a quiet house, please consider her ..... you won't regret it.
02-02-25 UPDATE
What a difference a few days in a home makes... I'm pleased to report that Jelly went out for TWO walks yesterday; one short one on her own and a longer second one with Muffin (another foster dog). She worked out that when my dogs saw me putting on my dog walking coat and get the leads out there was something good about to happen as my dogs got excited but had no idea what. She decided she was missing out so when we came back from our walk, I put a harness and slip lead on her (although she was not 100% happy about that) and off we went. As she was on her own we did not go far, but she enjoyed lots of sniffs and walked quite well on the lead. Her second walk of the day was longer although we did all get frequently tangled up in the leads as there is so much to investigate so no danger of either dog walking in a straight line! We will continue to go out for walks to help build her confidence but I'm sure she enjoyed her new experience. Still no accidents in the house and she is beginning to like a fuss so doing really well. Adopting a dog like Jelly is really rewarding as its lovely to watch them grow in confidence and learn about benefits of being a pet dog. If you are looking for another canine family member, have the time to help her develop and feel you can give Jelly a 5* home, please complete an application form and get the ball rolling.

You can sponsor Jelly and many other dogs by donating towards the Gift of Life. This donation gives a second chance at life for Jelly and their friends that Many Tears rescue from Ireland. Please Visit our Gift of Life page for more information and how you can help sponsor a dog.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
