22-11-21 Meet Hickory! He is the most handsome bundle of puppy fluff and has a wonderful, affectionate character. Hickory is here because he's a bit unique - he was born with front legs that haven't quite been made right. His right front leg has no function but he does manage to use his left front leg even though it is also deformed. He does manage extremely well but tires easily and will need to be monitored as he grows in case his legs starts to hinder him, he may benefit from learning to use some wheels to give his front legs a rest. Hickory knows no different and is happy to scamper around as he is. He has had to have a bit of a severe haircut as he was very matted but this won't take long to grow back. Given the fact he's a bit more fragile than other pups he will need a home where any children are older and extremely gentle with him. He really hates to be without his people and gets very upset when left alone. He is much happier when left without her dogs so will need at least one friendly gentle resident dog in his new home. Hickory will need some veterinary input when it comes to his legs and any adopter needs to be aware that nothing to do woth his legs will be covered on insurance. Hickory is a delightful boy with so much love to give. He will need to go to puppy classes and be neutered at 6 months.

04-01-22 UPDATE
Hickory has been in foster for 5 weeks and he is a lovely, happy bundle of fun. He took christmas in his stride and greeted every visitor like a long lost friend. His toilet training is going well and he has really taken to life in a home. He suffers from separation anxiety even if you are in another room. He is much better with other dogs around and so would need another dog in his new home. He gets about in the home on his malformed front legs but his legs get tired by the end of the day and getting around takes more effort. As things are he will not be able to walk in the usual manner. We carry him in a dogs carrier on our front but a buggy might also work for him. Caring for Hickory means a lot of picking up and carrying and although he may only reach about 4kg you would need to bear that in mind. As far as the future goes for this little chap he will need specialist vet input and likely some sort of wheels and equipment.
This little man will be a commitment but he will repay you many times over with his cheeky loving character and he will be a great friend.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
