04-09-2024 Tilly has come to us from a home following a divorce with her friend Rex who she has lived with all her life. The siblings were breifly adopted together, but following an incident between the two of them, they have been returned to us. Tilly would suit best in a home as an only dog so she is able to allow herself time to grow and settle into her new home. All dogs who come from homes find kennel life hard and Tilly is the sweetest lady in the whole wide world and is confused to find herself here as she is used to home comforts. Tilly is missing her front left leg but doesn't let this hold her back. She is still active and loves her walks and swimming although she does tire quicker these days due to her age. Tillly's previous owner told us Tilly loves to cuddle and play with toys, she is good with children and was regularly walked by a dog walker with multiple other dogs. She loves a little bit of cheese in the morning and as her bedtime treat. Tilly will make a fantastic companion for anyone and although she would love a new home with Rex we will consider homing Tilly with another dog or dogs and also as an only dog if the circumstances were right for her.

Tilly has seen our vets and had her back legs checked due to recent acute worsening. The vets have noted that her left stifle feels thickened with crepitus in joints and painful when hips are extended. The vets have noted she is overweight and has arthritis but are querying other components that the rehoming team can discuss further. Tilly has started a short term pain relief and long term yumove with advise to lose weight and will need to be monitored by adopters vets.

Isn’t this the prettiest little face ever? Tilly is such a kind and loving girl that although she has had her life turned upside down, still wears a smiley face and with the help of her friend, the confidence and happiness to get through this challenge. As a dog that’s come from a home, she’s taking it in her stride well, but I can tell that she yearns for a fuss from each person that passes and undoubtedly feels sad when it comes to the night and she doesn’t have the cosy home she was used to. She’s here through no fault of her own, and although she’s a trooper, just needs to find people that can dote on her needs. She passed me today and it looked like the pain relief has started to work as she was walking and very alert of her surroundings, especially cats and she even perked up after seeing them. In light of this I would suggest a home without cats. Tilly would be best suited as an only dog.
