Meet Quarrel

Quarrel is a stunning Spanish Mustang Cross. He had a difficult life before coming to Many Tears and is easily spooked but he loves attention and is the cuddliest of all our horses.

Quarrel's Story

Quarrel’s journey began in Spain, where he was found tied up on a roadside, starving and abandoned. He had once belonged to a family whose father rode him to fairs and pubs, performing tricks like rearing and Spanish Walk. But when the father left, Quarrel was left behind too. Although he was given water, food was scarce, and he became dangerously thin.

An English family heard about his situation and reached out to Sylvia for help. When she asked Bill to fund his transport, it led to a heated discussion, Bill reminded her that she couldn’t rescue every horse in need! Undeterred, Sylvia contacted a horse transport company, shared Quarrel’s heartbreaking story, and they kindly agreed to bring him to the UK as long as she could meet them on their route home. By the time he arrived at Many Tears, Sylvia had settled on the perfect name, Quarrel, forever reminding her of Bill’s (very sensible) advice… which, of course, she continues to ignore!

Quarrel arrived as a stallion, full of fear and uncertainty. Whenever people approached, he would either nervously perform Spanish Walk steps in an attempt to please, or retreat to the back of his stable. To this day, he is terrified of people climbing above him. Despite this, Quarrel has blossomed into the most loving and affectionate horse. Quarrel now spends his days going for gentle hacks and enjoying lots of fusses from staff – and is the first in line to greet visitors!
