Tucson's Story
Tucson was used for harness racing by travellers. The races had stirred up concerns among the locals and when Tucson fell after taking a corner too fast, the local authorities were called. Fortunately, one of our dog foster carers witnessed the situation and reached out to Sylvia, who stepped in to negotiate Tucson’s safe surrender.
When he arrived at Many Tears, Tucson was very wary of human affection, and it took nearly two years before he felt comfortable being touched. But with time, Tucson’s confidence grew, along with his wonderful personality. Now, he loves cuddles, scratches, and lots of treats – especially banana skins! Tucson does have a few quirks, including small horse syndrome, where he desperately tries to keep up with the bigger horses whilst out for a ride.
Despite the hardships he experienced in his previous life, Tucson loves to pull a cart! We take him for gentle drives up the road, and he has his ears forward the whole time. Tucson’s gentle nature and love of affection means he is brilliant with our pony clubs and equine therapy sessions, and is absolutely adored by both staff and visitors.

Tucson’s Wish List:
Horse shampoo – to soothe his itchy skin
Mane & Tail spray – to keep his hair soft and tangle-free
Plaiting bands – to keep his beautiful mane and tail neat
Greedy feeder hay net – to help slow down his eating
