It’s been a busy and beautiful week filled with sunshine, happy hooves, and lots of love for all the animals in our care

It’s been an eventful week with the gang, and for the most part, the sun was shining!

On Sunday, we turned all the horses, ponies, and donkeys out. Kenny and Marmite had the whole day to groom each other, but instead, they chose to munch on grass and left the grooming until they came in that afternoon, bless them! Rumour and Sian enjoyed a good groom before heading down the road for a little hack.

Sage did some canter work; the goal was a calm, relaxed canter, but true to form, Sage had other ideas and had a great time zooming around. Quarrel and Tucson also had some fun jumping. They’re usually on the lazy side, but once they got going, they had an absolute blast and clearly loved it. Meanwhile, the Shetlands and donkeys had a good run around and a roll in the sand school.

We were also thrilled to receive a beautifully drawn picture of Sian from one of our lovely volunteers, thank you so much!

Most of the week continued as usual, but Thursday brought a big task: Sian’s first bath! She's been with us since October, and it was well overdue. It was quite the job, but totally worth it—she’s now shiny, clean, and looking more beautiful than ever.

Thursday was also a proud day for our home-schooled children, who received rosettes for completing their term of activities. They've worked so hard, and we’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve accomplished. We’ll be back in May after a short break and can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

Finally, Friday arrived and with it, the new zebra rugs for the horses! Apparently, the zebra pattern helps deter flies, as it confuses them and sends them elsewhere. Who knew? You really do learn something new every day!

It’s always a busy week, but always worth it in the end. See you all next week with another update!
