Prior to filling out an adoption form please confirm that you understand:

  1. We are looking for long term, permanent homes for animals in our care and we need to be sure you can provide such a home. This means we have to ask questions about your personal circumstances.
  2. You may be asked for references, confirmation of work hours from your employer and consent to keep an animal from your landlord.
  3. Owning a pet is not cheap and you have considered the financial aspects of pet ownership including the costs of insurance, veterinary fees, feeding and grooming.
  4. The age and breed of an animal is stated by Many Tears Animal Rescue in good faith, this may be based on statements made by the previous owner, microchip details or an educated guess by our staff and experienced vet. We cannot guarantee that this information is correct despite every effort being made.
  5. Dogs are to be adopted as family pets and live inside the home as a member of the family and not be chained or kennelled outside used as a guard dog, hunting dog or for breeding purposes.
  6. Known specific medical conditions, treatments and behavioural problems will be made known to the adopter prior to adoption. Any medical treatment or training will be your responsibility to from the date of adoption. Due to the unknown history of our animals there can be no guarantees against any future conditions or illnesses.
  7. If your application is successful you will have a homecheck where you will be asked to prove your identity and show evidence you reside at the property. On passing a homecheck you will be expected to pick up your animal within 3-5 days
  8. If successful with your application and homecheck all members of your household and any resident dogs will be expected to travel to pick up a new dog from the location indicated on the dogs page on the website.
  9. If a dog or cat is unneutered at the time of adoption, you will be asked to sign a document confirming you will have them neutered as soon as possible with input from your vet on the best age to do so. We will check that kittens have been neutered before 6 months and puppies by the age of 18 months.
  10. If successful in adopting an animal, you agree for your personal data to be passed to the appropriate microchip database by Many Tears for the purposes of registering the microchip in your details. After we transfer your details to a microchip it is your responsibility to maintain the microchip records of the animal, by informing the microchip database of any changes of address or ownership of the animal. This also applies to Equine Passports, where your personal details will be passed to the passport issuing authority.
