24-03-2024 Friday is a stunning boy who uses his looks to win you over. He is super super affectionate and always wants a cuddle from people he loves! He loves his toys, walks and food, and has a clear understanding of what is expected from him when asked, with his knowledge of a huge range of queue words like sit, heel, lay down, and wait.
Friday was adopted as a puppy from us and has been returned due to having some issues in the home. His issues were managed the best they could be, but the people didn't have the right set up for him as Friday can guard, and escalates in his guarding quite quickly. He also can wake up in a startle in the night/dark and react. He needs his own area, like a large crate or room baby gated off, where it is his space and his space only. This should not be used as a 'time out', but somewhere he can be safely put out of the way when needed, eg when you're cooking your dinner, new people over, etc. and where he will sleep at night.
Baby gates will be your best friend with a dog like Friday and I think initially "Fridays area" will be something to depend on a huge amount, only bringing him to the rest of the house in a controlled way, to see where his issues lay and where you can do work constructively. I have also started muzzle training him so that when he is brought into the rest of the house, he can do so safely and you can be much more confident with it too.
Friday doesn't need someone who just want to adopt a dog to have a dog, he needs someone who wants to help him, guide him in the correct ways, and show him *how* to be a pet dog in the home, with respect. It will be a long road, but he is the most scrumptious boy and I can promise it'd be worth it. He needs someone who won't give up on him. To sum up, Friday needs:

  • TO BE ONLY DOG
  • An adult only home
  • An experienced home (preferably experience with guarding but if you show you are truly ready to work with whatever he throws at you, this could be considered)
  • No cats or small furries in the home
  • His own safe area
  • People who won't expect miracles and know he needs a lot of guidance

He is an amazing guy with so much love and affection to give
He loves a fuss and all the attention you can give him
Friday will need an adult only home as an only dog - No small animals or cats
He will need his own little space that he can retreat too and call his own

Friday has become quite the favourite among all of us who look after him here at the rescue and we are all wondering one thing, why is he still here! He is such a super happy and affectionate man but you can tell that kennels aren't a place he enjoys. First thing every morning he sprints out of his bed as soon as he hears you and can't wait to be fussed and is so happy to see you. We have started taking Friday to lunch with us as well to get more one on one time with humans and he is just such a sweetheart, you can tell he gets a lot less stressed and finally starts to fully relax. He loves nothing more than to curl up in your lap and start dozing away. If you are interested in this super special young man, please apply! I know that whoever gives him a chance is truly going to gain a super best friend!

Friday is everything!
I love this little guy so much. If it wasn’t for me having a resident dog and cat he would be home with me but we have cat tested Friday and this does mean he can’t be homed with resident cats or other small furries. He will also need a home without small children.
But that’s enough of what this legend can’t do … Friday is amazing on lead. I take Friday to my car for my lunch breaks everyday so he is very comfortable in a car and i have to say though polite when I’m eating my lunch, our kennel environment is much different to a home where management around food will be needed.
Friday has so much potential to be the perfect companion. He is an incredible young man with so much love to give. He loves attention and affection off the people he adores the most! And when he does I promise you he gives you such a sparkle when he greets you with excitement and joy.
Friday has waited for a steady loving home to call his own. He does need to learn some boundaries in the home, but I feel with time and the right structure and routine in place he will be amazing. To get a good understanding of Friday’s needs please read his previous updates to get a full picture of this lil gent.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
