Wills and Legacy Gifts

Leaving a Gift to Many Tears in your Will could change the lives of thousands of dogs.

Providing for your loved ones is the most important thing to consider when writing a Will. However, once they have been considered if you wish to leave a legacy to support Many Tears Animal Rescue's work it could help us save the lives of so many dogs.

Having an up to date, valid, will is the most important thing you can do to protect your assets and to ensure your wishes are carried out exactly as you want. This way you can ensure your loved ones benefit as you wish.

Many Tears relies on donations to enable us to continue with our work. Remembering us in your Will is a wonderful way that enables you to help the dogs in our care beyond your lifetime. Making or amending a Will can feel daunting but in fact it’s much simpler than you may imagine. If you are making a Will for the first time it is always a good idea to use a solicitor or professional Will writer.

People leave a Legacy to Many Tears for different reasons. Some remember us because of the dogs or cats that they have rehomed from us which have given them so much joy, companionship and love. Others just want to help us to continue our work but all share a common trait and that is wanting to help animals. A gift of a percentage of your estate will make the biggest difference to helping us – because it will keep its value better than a gift of a fixed sum of money. However any gift to Many Tears Animal Rescue in your Will, no matter how large or small is truly appreaciated and shows you care about animals as much as we do. Every penny helps us give them the care and love they deserve.

There are different types of Legacies:
Pecuniary – a gift of a fixed amount
Specific – a gift of a defined item
Residuary – a gift of what remains in your estate after all other legacies and liabilities have been paid.
Life Interest – you leave the benefit: income or use of the gift to someone for their lifetime and then the gift passes to the ultimate recipient.

If you are considering making a bequest to Many Tears Animal Rescue you should seek advice from your bank or a qualified lawyer, who will ensure that your Will is legally correct and prevent problems for your loved ones. You need to make sure you give the following details:

In England and Wales, go to lawsociety.org.uk, or call 020 7242 1222.
In Scotland, contact the Law Society of Scotland at lawscot.org.uk, or call 013 1226 7411.
In Northern Ireland, contact the Law Society of Northern Ireland at lawsoc-ni.org, or call 028 9023 1614.
